It is an untitled Christmas whodunit, and the two are not just acting in it. Burton and Anderson are co-writing and producing with Stacy Asencio-Sutphen, with Zero Gravity Management — the company behind Netflix's Ozark — attached as producers.
The pitch, as the producers describe it, mixes comedy, holiday romance and a light mystery, with two mismatched partners tripping into a case in a small town at Christmas. Jason and Spinelli fans can do the math on that pairing themselves.
Financing and distribution were still being finalized when the news broke on Sept. 14, and a casting call was out for two female leads. The team has said it is designed as the first of an annual run of mystery films, not a one-off.
